Boys' State Information

 

 American Legion Boys' State is a unique summertime educational program for high school juniors that focuses on participation and personal experience in a model state, complete with governmental bodies and elected public officials. It is designed to mirror the structure and operation of its respective state government, providing training in practical citizenship, leadership and character development.   

Criteria for elegiblity: 

High School junior boy in the top half of his class

Physically fit

Patriotic

  This year, Boys' State is held in at SUNY, Morrisville, NY.  The Argyle American Legion interviews nominated candidates and will cover all expenses and transportation.  For more information:  http://www.nyamericanlegionboysstate.com/



 

Post Commander, Gary Gilchrist has worked with the Washington County Legion to obtain a position at New York Girls' State for a girl from Argyle in 2009. 
Please contact the High School principal if you are interested in attending! 

We'd like to thank Ronald and Sharon Bain for their contribution on behalf of Don Bain toward the payment for a girl from Argyle to attend Girl's State this year!
